Israel’s ban on household reunification ‘the worst persecution’ in opposition to Palestinians – Center East Monitor

The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Friday slammed the Israeli ban on household reunification as “the worst persecution” practiced by Israel in opposition to the Palestinians.

In a press release issued by the PA’s Ministry of Overseas Affairs and Expatriates, the PA acknowledged: “This regulation is obvious proof that Israel is a state of apartheid, primarily as a result of it separates members of Palestinian households from each other.”

Family reunification in Israel is a law enacted by the Israeli Knesset in 2002. It prevents Palestinian residents in Israel from requesting citizenship for his or her spouses residing within the West Financial institution, the Gaza Strip or overseas.

Israel claims that this ban is being imposed as a part of safety measures, however Palestinians assert that it’s racist and an try by Israel to scale back the variety of Palestinian residents.

“This regulation is a type of ethnic cleaning that the Israeli occupation has been practising in opposition to the Palestinians for a very long time,” based on the PA.

It added: “The reunification of Palestinian households is a proper assured by worldwide regulation and conventions, however Israel is usurping this proper.”
