Egypt at the moment reopened to vacationers the 4,700-year-old southern tomb of King Djoser on the pyramid of Saqqara after a 15-year renovation, experiences Reuters.
The tomb, south of Cairo, lies close to the Third Dynasty pharoah’s well-known Step Pyramid, Egypt’s earliest large-scale stone construction, which itself was closed for restoration till March 2020.
The southern tomb, constructed between 2667 BC and 2648 BC, is assumed to have been constructed for symbolic causes, or maybe to carry Djoser’s inside organs, stated Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities.
