Some 157 UN member states yesterday voted in favor of a decision affirming Palestinian sovereignty over their pure sources.
Seven nations – Canada, Israel, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau and the USA – voted towards the movement, with 14 abstentions.
The Common Meeting adopted the draft on “Everlasting sovereignty of the Palestinian individuals within the Occupied Palestinian Territory, together with East Jerusalem and of the Arab inhabitants within the occupied Syrian Golan over their pure sources”. Members went on to demand “that Israel, the occupying Energy, stop the exploitation, injury, reason for loss or depletion and endangerment of pure sources within the Occupied Palestinian Territory, together with East Jerusalem, and within the occupied Syrian Golan.”

Welcoming the choice, Palestinian International Minister Riyad Al-Maliki stated: “Voting in favour of this decision affirms the rights of the Palestinian individuals and their sovereignty over their pure sources, together with land, water and vitality sources.”
