Algerian International Minister Ramtane Lamamra has denounced an African Union (AU) determination to grant Israel observer standing as a “double mistake”, Anadolu Company reported on Saturday.
“We weren’t those who initiated the granting of observer standing to anybody,” Lamamra shared in an interview with Radio France Internationale and France 24 carried out in Addis Ababa.
Lamamra travelled to the Ethiopian capital to take part within the thirty fifth AU summit, which is to open on Saturday.
“There’s a double mistake with this case,” he careworn.
“The primary mistake was to grant observer standing [to Israel] with out conducting consultations with the AU member states, together with Algeria,” Lamamra asserted, including that the choice “was unhealthy and shouldn’t have been taken.”
He famous: “If prior consultations had taken place, the choice wouldn’t have been taken, surely.”
